The 2018 Arthur Purdy Stout Annual Prize

The Arthur Purdy Stout Society of Surgical Pathologists is soliciting nominations for the 2019 Arthur Purdy Stout Prize to be awarded at the 2019 Spring USCAP Meeting. The prize, in the amount of $2500, is awarded annually to a surgical pathologist under the age of 45. The prize is intended to recognize significant career achievements in Surgical Pathology by young surgical pathologists whose research publications, whether clinical or basic, have had a major impact on diagnostic pathology. Documentation should include three to four publications selected by the applicants or nominator as their most significant contributions as well as a curriculum vitae and a summary of the candidate's achievements in Surgical Pathology. 2018 President's Award

The Board of Trustees of the Arthur Purdy Stout Society of Surgical Pathologists has established an Annual President’s Award to recognize a member for distinguished service in the discipline of surgical pathology. The recipient of this Award is acknowledged at the Annual Meeting of the Arthur Purdy Stout Society at the USCAP.

The Arthur Purdy Stout Society of Surgical Pathologists Study Stipends are designed to allow residents in Pathology to spend one month at another institution to pursue study of a specific area of diagnostic surgical pathology.

Applicants must be sponsored by a member of the Arthur Purdy Stout Society at both their parent institution and at the institution where they plan to work during the one-month period of the program. Supporting letters from these persons are requested.

The Stipends are for a one-month period of study. A total of $3,500.00 is provided to the resident to cover travel and living expenses. Salary is to be provided by the resident’s regular training program. A total of four stipends will be awarded.

Surgical pathology is defined as the practice of medicine devoted to the diagnosis of disease based on observable cellular and tissue changes in specimens removed from living patients.
